I picked this TV to replace an older Samsung LCD; my primary uses are games, sports, and the occasional movie. I used it for 2 weeks steadily.

This TV was easy to set up – it found my Wi-Fi network quickly and offered a firmware update which installed without hassle. The remote is easy to use and the menus are responsive. The settings are, unfortunately, few, as it seems to lack advanced picture controls (white balance and the like). However, working with what I had, I used the Disney WOW Blu-Ray to calibrate. The end results turned out to be very similar to “custom mode.”

The picture quality was good. Colors are great and I found motion handling to be very good. I didn’t notice any “soap opera effect” – motion looked good to me. The one issue is that the default black setting (“Dark”) crushed like crazy – no details could be found in dark scenes, and it was impossible to calibrate games (you know – “move the cursor until you barely see the logo”). Just Picked one of these GREAT sets this week…Whoa!!!, April 27, 2012

I just purchased one of these 47″ LED Sets to replace a 2 yr old LG LED 46″ TV. There was nothing wrong with the LG, but I wanted to check out something newer (lots have changed in 2 yrs and when the time is right, I upgrade). I had also considered going up to a 50″ set. After doing much research and viewing at local stores, I happened upon the Panasonic TC-L47ET5…I was totally impressed by it’s 2d picture; but what interested me more, was its ability to do a bit of 2D>3D conversion on certain sources (Like Blue Ray DVDs, especially).

I did not purchase the set from Amazon, since I do not like having to go thru the hassle of a return on a large, heavy, delicate Internet purchase, if need be; Otherwise Amazon would have gotten my business…(I got this at an amazing price, on sale, at one of the Big local stores)IMHO…Panasonic is back in the game now since Samsung, Sony, and LG have, of late, been in the limelight

This television is easily one of the best values per dollar currently available. After years of research to the point where I was exhausted by the whole thing, this is what I selected. It isn’t purrfect (weight of remote is wrong in your hand and position of buttons makes it a two-hander, FB/Twitter overlay needs adjustments, and I am seriously annoyed that ALL panel tvs now require an adapter to convert digital sound back to analog for use with our OLD stereo equipment). I was surprised to discover that the rca-input jacks for component/composite are one-in-the-same, (shared: meaning you get one or the other but not both, and they connect to an ADAPTER plug, verses direct connect to the set) but other than that this set is TOP SHELF. I highly recommend it.

Died within 5 months, May 9, 2012

When it worked, it worked pretty good. It died within 5 months, two months past warranty. Buyer beware labor warranty only lasts 90. If you have to pay for labor, you might as well buy new tv. Do not ignore warnings this tv dies rather quickly.

We bought one of these on black Friday like the other reviewer. We haven’t had any problems yet with it. We mostly watch it in the bedroom for a couple hours a night. It’s only been in use for a few months, but for the cheap price I’m happy with it so far.

Perfect residential quick release TV mount, November 25, 2011

I attached the two plates to a standard articulated VESA mount and to a 19″ TV. It was perfect for hanging the TV outdoors where bad weather or guests required taking it inside quickly without unscrewing the original VESA mount from the TV.

EXCELLENT LED TV!!, March 22, 2012

this is an awesome TV to have at the kids room, the image quality is AWESOME (exactly what you would expect from a Samsung product)
I Highly recommend you get some HDMI cables (if youre looking to optimize the picture quality when using this product with an XBOX 360, or any other game console)

PS if you’re looking to buy a Television of this dimension (26 inches) then get the 720p as there is no major difference between 720p and 1080p in this size.. now if youre looking to get a television from 35 inches or bigger now I would higly recommend you look at 1080 as the picture quality is highly noticeable..

Here I was stranded with a Sony piece of junk. For that, I shelled out big bucks a couple years ago sold over by the internal Blu-Ray player and Wi-Fi connectivity only to have it finally die on me last week. All those fancy-smancy Sony adds and paying pretty much top dollar for a 32″, and I figured I’d at least get 5 years out of it. Nope. Blu Ray dies ~5 months ago. OK, I can live with that. Just buy an external one. This week, the channel and sound are not able to be changed unless I rebooted (i.e., unplugged and plugged) the TV. So I decide to give Samsung a try knowing how much I’ve always thought their computer monitors always struck me as better than others. After all, I’m just looking for a good image. I can live without all the other bells & whistles. Boy, if this thing can stand the test of time I won’t go back. The picture quality is fantastic. It’s got a Dynamic, Movie, and Standard Mode. The modes actually seem to work for what they imply (unlike my Sony piece of junk)…

Budget TV with Nice features and slim design view from front, April 20, 2012

Hi, This 32 inch Samsung TV will meet the expectations of people who don’t want to shell out much money as compared to other RCA and some cheap brands which sold out on your local stores but want good looking and nice features in their TV. It has nice contrast, color and brightness combinations. Movie and dynamic modes will meet most peoples viewing criteria. Sound is also good enough and can be used in bed room without any home theater system or external speakers. Remote control has back lit feature to be use in dark room. Thickness as you see in pics is not bothering as it can hardly be seen from front and gives you the impression of slim TV. While connecting it to laptop you will require to adjust the screen resolution of your laptop to accommodate the complete picture on TV screen. I just received the TV yesterday at noon time and here are my initial impressions on it (an update will follow in 2 weeks)…

Please keep in mind I previously owned a Samsung UN52A650, UN46D6000, UN55D6000 and now on my 4th Samsung unit UN60ES6500, all purchased through Amazon.com

HARDWARE SPECS

Yes, the ES6500 models do come with only 3 HDMI inputs. I don’t know why people are rating the TV low because of this (downgrade) feature. Having previously owned the UN55D6000, which had 4 HDMI inputs, I never made use of all 4 HDMI ports anyhow because I do own an Onkyo 607 receiver with a built in 5 HDMI switcher.

Here is how I use the HDMI labeled ports:
1) HDMI/DVI (recommended for PC use) – connected to my HTPC computer, very sharp clear text in 1920×1080 resolution with Windows 7
2) HDMI 2 – connected directly to Sony 3D BX58 BLU RAY player (since my Onkyo 607 does not support 3D, but planning on buying Onkyo 616…

Second Samsung TV, April 16, 2012

After purchasing a Samsung UN55D7000 about 6 months ago (2011 model) which I was very happy with, I needed a new TV for my bedroom and this model was the perfect size and it had many of the same features.

This TV is the 2012 model and is still fairly new, they are still working out the bugs with the smartTV side for the 2012 models at Samsung. I noticed that this TV does not have the HBO2GO app yet and I read how it is because it is a 2012 and the app has to be changed.

Also the Browser is not working, this could be an issue with just my tv but I tested it and it would not connect.

I compared this TV next to the D7000 and it was exactly the same but it did not have the “spotlighting” that occurs on the 2011 models. The blacks seem much blacker also.

I have not tested the 3D part, one good this is that this model comes with 2 pairs of glasses, they are the ones with batteries you have to replace and they do not recharge but I did not buy it…

Excellent picture after simple adjustment, April 1, 2012

This TV has an excellent picture, period. If your main criteria for a TV is the picture then I don’t think you can go wrong with this TV.

Now some background…
Out of the box, news shows were unwatchable while movies and most other programming were great. Just about every news show was overly bright and faces so much so it was unwatchable as far as I was concerned. But two simple adjustments fixed it.

Using the Natural setting I dialed back Brightness from 45 to 35 and Color from 52 to 40. Now there are a zillion other controls and the picture can be tweaked endlessly. But those two probably made 90% of the diference with 10% of the effort. You will want to adjust the settings to your preference but Color and Brightness is definitely the place to start.

This thing is great, in my case it was a pain to put up, but only because my house is built wrong and my studs are 2 ft apart instead of 16 in. After the space issue was solved putting this up was a breeze. The parts that go on the back wouldn’t take the lock washer for my TV, it seems the threads are a but deep for this product. without the lock washer the screws went in fine.

I love being able to move the TV around especially when i need to plug more stuff in…it make access to the back super easy.

Its built like a rock, weighs more than my TV and supported my full wight 150lb (testing the wall more than the mount). In my opinion it is a good buy.

Yes some people will say that this TV is not loaded with features, like all the streaming internet blah-de-blah-blah-blah. But if you have that in your Blu-ray player, you don’t need it in your TV as well. And some of us don’t care about watching streaming movies over the net, some of us don’t have good enough broadband connections where we live to support that anyway. And some of us BUY blu-ray movies that we like. So enough about internet bloody apps.

The biggest complaint about this set offered by some is the fact that it only has 2 HDMI ports. And that could be a problem for some. But if you control all of your gear (like I do) through your A/V receiver, you only need ONE HDMI going into the TV anyway. If you’ve got to plug all of your high-def gear right into the TV, and you’ve got more than 2 HDMI devices, this TV is not for you, find another. So enough about only 2 HDMI ports.

Excellent “Basic” Television, March 10, 2012

It is telling when you have to describe televisions as “basic” or “smart” – just like cellular devices.

The EH6000 is a “basic” television that, simply, fits a need. It is a television that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. I don’t really need it to be anything else, either. It certainly is my television, but I mostly use it as a monitor for my PC and consoles. It does a wonderful job for what I need it for, and that’s the key. My consoles and PC do everything I’d want a “smart” television for anyway. I also have no need or desire for 3D. At this point in time, there are few panels that give the true theater experience, and they are all well outside of my price range.

The picture is nice and sharp. Out of the box, it was set to “dynamic” color mode which I found so bright it washed out the picture. I set it to “standard” color mode, and it fits my environment just fine. If I upgrade from my yellow light bulbs to white, I may change my color settings. I haven’t…

Incredibly Sharp Picture!, March 12, 2012

I purchased this TV after weeks and weeks of research. In the 46″ realm, I am confident the Samsung UN46EH6000 is by far the best option for the money. The picture is incredible, the quality the amazing and the color is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. One feature worth noting is the smooth picture movement — you have to see it to understand it. Highly recommended LED HDTV!

So I just installed a 32″ Vizio HDTV on my patio (part of my outdoor “mancave”) and I realized that it may be a good idea to get some sort of a cover for the TV when not in use to protect from the outside elements. I looked at a few different covers made by various companies and originally decided to go cheap. I found a cover for roughly fifteen bucks cheaper than this one. Upon checkout, I re-read the product description and noticed the cover was just the weather proof vinyl material throughout (inside and outside). I came back to this cover and noticed it was a soft plush inside with the vinyl outer. I bought it. Boy was I glad I changed my mind and bought this. First off, it fits the TV perfectly! I have it mounted on the wall in the backyard patio area and it’s cut to where it fits around the VESA mount and closes in around it on the rear. Nice Cover, June 15, 2010

Using this for the LCD on my back patio. Well built and designed. Light color keeps it cooler. Bottom zips up and the back velcros closed. There is a flap that covers the mounting hardware. Also has a remote pocket. Exactly what I needed for keeping dust and some light moisture off my TV.

Simple- best mount value so far, April 13, 2012

This is a great mount. It hung my 50″ Plasma with ease. The directions are minimal but effective. They do instruct you to fasten the mount to the wall with four (or 6!) 1/4″ lag screws which is enough for an adolescent gorilla to hang off of. The level is a great touch and was accurate (I used another level to confirm). My only gripe was that the holes for the lag screws were almost too large for the heads so I had to supply my own over-sized washers for piece of mind. I would buy this unit 100 times over and for under it can’t be beat. Heavy duty.

Typically when there is a fanboy war over LCDs, the fight comes down between Samsung and Sony. Sonys are usually hailed as having better blacks while Samsungs [aka Sammys] are cited as having more accurate color.

I had a 46V4100 [last year's V-Series a step higher than this S-series] and found it was a solid performer that was plagued by uneven backlight issues.

After researching several sets, I decided to give Sony another chance. At some point when buying an HDTV you have to accept that there will be compromises.

For a “entry level” set, the S5100 does not disappoint. Yes, SD content looks sketchy because of the huge amounts of upscaling that take place. That’s true on any 1080p set. And the compression that the cable and satellite companies use mean you will see blocky compression artifacts around the edges of some HD content.

Nice TV for the price!, August 26, 2009

I’m not a big TV person, so I can’t compare this TV to others. I actually purchased this TV to play my PS3 on it, which is great!!!!! The games at 1080p look absolutely flawless. I can’t really make a lot of comments about the functions, but there are a lot of them. Everything looks great and for the price it’s great, and it’s a SONY!

Three months later, here is a review update:
This is still a good TV, especially when I purchased it 3 months ago. However, over the course of 3 months the HDMI connections started doing some weird things.

My set up is very simple: HDMI 1 is connected to my Digital Cable, HDMI 2 is connected to my SONY PS3 and HDMI 3 is connected to my SONY DVD upscale player. The problems I started having was the HDMI connections weren’t reading the signals sent by each component. At first I though it was the digital cable, because I stopped getting a signal. Got the TV about two weeks ago, and have been somewhat satisfied. It took a while to get the SD channels look “OK” (sharpness down, etc), but I have concerns over the HD quality. HD channels are pretty good except when we have dark scenes. I get a lot of ghosting which I really hate seeing on a brand new TV. We have Comcast HD in Chicago, and we have really good HDMI cables. I applied the patch the day the TV came, and turned down the auto dim, and played around with all the picture settings including brightness, picture, sharpness… Anyone experiencing the same issues? I have yet to try a DVD – I only have a standard DVD player, maybe I should get a Blu-Ray player too…

I had a Sony 42″ Plasma (bought in 2004) before this and the dark scenes look much more grainy compared to my old TV on HD channels.

I do not think I will return it but any comments to correct this issue during the return period are welcome.
